Explore the city of Barranquilla, in the Latin American nation of Colombia. Barranquilla is one of Colombia's major industrial cities, and was home to personalities like Shakira and Edgar Renteria of the Boston Red Sox. Just like every other tropical city in Colombia, Barranquilla has a tropical climate, with temperatures averaging 32 degress Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit). Its most famous cultural event is its annual Carnival, also known as Carnaval de Barranquilla, which is claimed to be second only to the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro.
